Overview

Rise Vision is a cloud-based digital signage solution for schools, universities, and businesses. It's easy to use, has hundreds of free, professionally-designed templates, and fast customer support.

This tutorial is designed for those who are completely new to the platform and who primarily only need to know how to add and schedule images to a display in the Terry Business Learning Community. You need to have the appropriate permissions to add and edit slides. If you run into any issues or have any questions, you can consult the RiseVision help center or, if it is a very specific question, email the Terry Web Team.

Video tutorial

In addition to screenshots and steps below, we have a video tutorial on how to edit slides with Rise Vision.

Step One – Login

Go to https://www.apps.risevision.com/signin

You will sign in with your UGA email and a password that you create. An authorized user must put your information on there to add you as a user. Once that authorized user adds you, you should get an email. From there, you will create your password. This is the login screen.

Step Two – Click Presentations

This is what the home page looks like. "Presentations" is what you want to click, as this is where you will be spending all your time.

Oftentimes, you will be greeted with an annoying message which will prevent you from doing anything until the message is acknowledged.

For users with smaller screens, the message might not even be visible unless said user scrolls down or minimizes their window. A quick way to minimize your browser window is with CTRL and - or +

Step Three – Find Your Presentation

If you are with USS, you should be editing Commons Video Wall. This is the large display located in Casey Commons. This display has four different quadrants.

Step Four – The Display Interface

Then you will be brought to a screen that looks similar to the screenshot below, with an image in the center of the screen. This is an example of what the majority of Terry displays runs.

If you are with USS, your interface might look more like this screenshot, which shows a four regions, and one of them-- bottom right-- is the place for images.

All images in the rotation are displayed in the left-hand column in any screen.

Click the image placeholder in the center (circled in the screenshot), or in the bottom right quadrant of the USS screenshot.

The image region on the screen correlates to the "ads" placeholder circled on the left. However, for this tutorial the image itself is the only thing we need to worry about.

Go ahead and click on the image in the image region.

Step Five – Selecting Images

To add a new image to the slideshow rotation, click the "image" icon on the left side of the screen, circled in the screenshot.

Step Six – Adding Images to Your Slideshow

You will be greeted with a slightly disorganized list of images and folders.

If you would like to add your image to a specific folder, you can type in the name of the folder and select it.

If you do not have a folder for your image, click "Create Folder"-- a grey button in the screenshot-- and name it appropriately.

Once inside the folder, click "Upload Files" and select the image on your computer that you want to upload.

Once uploaded, find it in the list by typing its name into the search bar above the list of images.

When the image is selected, it will have a green checkbox over it. Choose "select."

Knowing Correct Image Dimensions

RiseVision, by default, will do its best to make your image fit within the frame while maintaining original proportions. Best practice is to have your image be the same resolution as the frame. The correct dimension for the Casey Commons video wall is 1920x1080. For the displays that play the "New Terry Digital Signage" presentation, the correct dimension for images is 949x741. Note: RiseVision does not handle image editing besides trying to make it fit within the frame. The image should be given to whoever schedules the slides in the correct dimensions.

Step Seven – Scheduling Your Image

The image you just selected will show up at the very bottom of the rotation. The "rotation" is the circled list of images in the left-hand column.

Rearranging

To rearrange an image, place your cursor over the image, click to hold and drag it up or down to change its order in the rotation.

When you add a new image, it will be at the very bottom of the list by default.

Find your image at the bottom and move it to where you would like it to be in the slideshow.

Changing the length of time the image displays

Once you have rearranged the image (if desired), click on the timer icon.

Here is where you choose how long you would like the image to display before moving on to the next image in the rotation.

You will also choose an end date for the image to stop displaying.

Before you select “Apply” again and exit, change the file name. Put the end date at the beginning of the filename. Images in the presentation are not removed from the list when they reach their end date, so naming files this way let’s you quickly know which files can be removed. If files are not removed, they will sit in the list, which makes the list hard to navigate.

When the image is scheduled and the file is named appropriately, select “Apply”.

If you don't want to bother with scheduling images and will be manually handling image removal, check the "Always" box next to "Timeline."

Deleting an Image

Once an image reaches its end date and there is no reason to have it in your rotation, it must be manually removed (the trash bin icon).

Once delete is clicked, you will be brought to this screen. If you are ready to remove the image from the rotation, click remove.

Important: "Removing" using the trash can icon does not delete the image from storage, just your rotation. If you ever delete an image by mistake, re-add it using the previous steps.

Step Eight – Save and Preview

Next, click save and preview to make sure everything displays correctly (top right corner).

Tip: When previewing, if the presentation does not fit on your screen, you can minimize your browser window with CTRL and - You can also click the plus or minus buttons or the "fit" button.

Step Nine - Publish

If everything is to your liking, click "publish" (bottom right corner).

It will take you back to this screen. You have successfully updated your presentation!
