What Should I Edit Myself?

Departmental editors are appointed with the intent of editing content on their department’s pages, but not the design or layout of the page itself. Terry page layouts have been carefully built and managed by the Web Team and should not be altered by a departmental editor without first consulting with them.

For example: as a departmental editor, you are encouraged to change the text of a heading and its accompanying paragraph text, but not relocate the heading and text to another section of the page. In this situation, you should contact a member of the Web Team about relocating this content.

Refer to the lists below for an overview of edits you can perform yourself versus edits that should be performed by a Web Team member.

Edit Yourself

  • Paragraph text

  • Headings

  • Buttons

  • Images

  • Videos

  • Links

  • Ordered lists (bulleted or numbered)

  • Files (new and replacement files)

Contact the Web Team

  • Page layout

  • Page titles

  • Containers (placeholders for content items)

  • Spacing between columns and rows

  • Featured image (image at the top of the page)

  • Tables
