Services Available from off-campus
UGAMail.uga.edu (Office365)
Email and Calendar,
OneDrive - 1 TB of online storage for your files. Do not store restricted or sensitive data (SSNs, Credit Card information) on OneDrive
Online versions of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
elc.uga.edu - hosting course materials
uga.zoom.us - for online meetings.
Microsoft Teams - for departmental collaboration. A team can be requested from EITS. Once a team is created, meetings and documents can be shared.
Services Requiring VPN Connection (remote.uga.edu)
Most UGA administrative applications (Banner, UGA Financials, etc.) will require VPN to connect. This is the priority use for VPN.
If needed, the following options are available but please use Sparingly. see VPN warning above.
Please be aware that sensitive or restricted files can not reside on home or non-UGA computers.
Alternatives to consider:
Move non-sensitive files to OneDrive that can be shared with other devices. See this EITS page for instructions on connecting to your OneDrive account.
After a discussion with your department head, you may determine it is necessary to bring your office computer home. If so:
Please send an email to help@terry.uga.edu with the Tag number of the equipment that you will be relocating.
If you are using a desktop computer, make sure you are able to connect to your home internet connection.
Wired connection to your router or ethernet hub.
For Wifi connections you will need a LAN to WIFI converter (see NETGEAR Nighthawk AC1900 WiFi USB Adapter (A7000). Additional configuration will be needed in most circumstances.
