Teaching with Zoom Tips
For the first class, set aside some time to introduce your students to Zoom and ensure that they’re able to connect their audio and video. Also discuss online etiquette and expectations of the students in-person or online.
Pre-set your meeting to mute students’s microphones upon entry. This helps to avoid background noise.
Prepare an agenda and share at the beginning of class.
Engage students online by asking for their participation in the chat area or via reactions. Have students raise hands to to ask a question and unmute them so they can participate.
Look at the camera to create eye contact with your students.
Take a second to check chat.
When delivering a presentation, sharing images, files or video, ask students online if they are able to view the content. Give them a moment.
